FAQ

Questions, answered

Everything you might wonder before your first call.

What is Play the Situation?

A daily judgment game. Every day, everyone gets the same real, high-stakes situation. You step into a role, make a call with incomplete information, the situation pushes back, and you decide whether to hold or adapt. There's no single right answer — only how well you read the room.

Do I need an account?

No. Like Wordle, a light cookie in your browser quietly remembers you, so you can just start playing — no password, no sign-up. If you want, you can add a simple username and an avatar later, but you never have to.

Is it free?

Completely. There are no payments, no subscriptions, and no prizes. Standing here is status, not money, so there's nothing to buy and nothing to cash out.

Is there a right answer?

No — and that's the point. Every situation is built so there's no clean, correct move; each choice gives something up. What matters is how you read an unclear moment and commit to a call under pressure.

How long does it take?

Under a minute for a quick call. If a situation grabs you, you can go deeper and spend a few minutes with it. Either way, it's an easy daily habit.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. You can open a private room with a small group — 3 to 8 people — and compare how each of you played the same situation. Seeing who held, who adapted, and who read it best is the fun part.

What is the judgment profile?

As you play, your calls quietly build a living record of how you think — how you weigh risk, when you trust your gut, how your confidence holds up against what actually happened. It's yours, and it grows more credible the more you play. Think of it as a portrait of your judgment, not a grade.

Do you use my data? Is it private?

We keep it light. You can play without an account, the browser cookie only holds a random id, and because standing is status rather than money, there's nothing to sell. Other players only ever see usernames masked. Our privacy policy spells out the details.

What does "standing is status, not money" mean?

It means your rankings, weekly standing, and profile are a mark of judgment, not a currency. They can't be bought, sold, or redeemed, there are no prizes, and they hold no monetary value. It's bragging rights, kept honest.

Can I play past situations?

The daily situation is the shared event everyone plays together. You can revisit earlier ones to practice, but the daily is the one that counts toward your standing.
